Hey folks we’re back with part 2! So this past weekend I spent some time with a friend of mine, Mr. John. Mr. John is a serious .22LR enthusiast and has been benchrest competition shooting for quite some time. He’s consistently a Top 5 shooter at his local club and he’s also what I’d call a professional tinkerer.
In part two of this series, Mr. John goes into pretty serious detail about what makes a .22 match rifle. He breaks down match rifles into a few different categories and also briefly discusses what the constraints of our ole 511 are for turning it into a legitimate match rifle. It’s an information dense video so brace yourself but if you’re interested in serious .22LR shooting, this is a video for you.
I also want to be clear about our framework in doing this. The goal is to take an everyday field gun you can get for relatively cheap and see if a few modifications can make it compete with a modern day off the rack match gun. With doing all this, there will be discussions of firearms modifications to improve the accuracy of this old .22, and we all should know by now, that is something the YouTube does not like. So with that being said, I highly encourage the readers to follow along both the blog and the YouTube videos for the full dose of information, and if you have any questions or ideas or feedback, please reach out to use via OZK Provisions, or leave a YouTube comment. I can’t wait to share the many more videos to come! Be good!
